The Village Tea Room

Challenge

The Village Tea Room has been a customer of Condor Designs and was the 2^nd website Condor Designs had ever built. The first website was a redesign of a simple site that needed to be turned into an Ecommerce site encompassing 300 products. The challenge this time was to scale back to a more simple design in line with the company changes stripping everything back to a more simple approach.

Strategy

We went back to basics and stripped out everything that was no longer needed. This involved looking at our analytics and seeing what pages were the most visited and make it simpler to navigate between the pages and add a key focus on the core aspects of the business.

The Process

Ecommerce

In an earlier website we had over 300 products that were being brought all over the UK. Using this and the Tea Rooms connection with a local post office we were able to streamline this process to enable hundreds of items to be brought and shipped each month.

Redesign

We completed a full redesign of the website pulling the site back to basics and stripping out what wasn’t needed. This ensured an optimised website that was easy for customers to navigate. We used analytics to see what pages were the most hit and used these as the core products the business would now focus on.

Booking System

Being a restaurant where customers can come to dine in the Tea Room needed a booking system to suit. We had looked at newer methods but opted instead to use a method that would allow us more control over bookings. This was built using custom forms and email forwarding to enable each customer was answered for their queries in a timely fashion.

Mobile Optimised

Using analytics again we found 70% of customers visited the site from a mobile device. This is due in part of customers being out when they are searching for a restaurant. Using Google maps and other tools we made it easy for customers to find The Village Tea Toom and navigate whilst on mobile.
